Default CMPs on Freedom Route 3

We had 4 CMPs participate in our latest road trip. I thought I would share some pics of them. The two 15cwt made the whole 700km trip, the FAT lost oil pressure after racing the Ferrari and the HUP joined for a day.

Default Who won?

Silly question really. I sure the ferrari got blown into the weeds!!!

Great pictures Bruce, being a dumb Aussie I've no idea what freedom route 3 is (though I'm guessing its a well known and very good Canadian drive).

Is it a trip you fellahs regularly do? Or was this a one off?

This is the 3rd of our road trips put on by Western Command, our local military vehicle collectors club. We've done them every two years and we do it for our veterans. We travel through various areas of British Columbia. I put a blurb about it in the Military Shows & Events section back in June.

Many of our vets are living outside the greater metropolitan areas and never get to see shows or meets so we decided to take the show to them. We coordinate with local Legions & Army/Navy/Airforce groups in the small towns.
The trip lasts a week and some 2 to 3 dozen vehicles participate with people from B.C., Alberta and Washington State.

The 50 cal on the halftrack took care of the Ferrari.

Heres whats left of the ferrari after taking on the CMP.

Seriously the freedom routes we have done have been the best thing we have ever been involved in. even in the off years we did do a mini route up through whistler and over some spectacular mountain roads to get to some out of the way legions. Also in 2008 we made the trek to portland and back, that was pretty close to 1600 km's round trip.
Too bad about the motor in Waldy's CGT as it just got out of the shop for the first time. I think it needed more break in before taking on that ferrari.
While it may be tough to organize another in 2 years it is possible and it would be great if we could get some other of the MLU crowd to join us.

Default How about more pictues

Hi Guys

Sounds like a great idea for tour through country side. You must have more pictures of CMPs and other vehicles of interest in front of majestic views.

Cheers Phil

Default What a mess...

They just dont learn these modern sports car guys. These are MILITARY vehicles.

That sounds like a fantastic concept with the veterans I'm sure they'd love it.

Thanks for the explanation guys.

Default Freedom route 3

Great time had by all, Chase BC was hard on both the FAT and the half track, fortunately the half track was repaired with a little ingenuity and was on the road in couple hours. I ended up trailering the FAT and doing repairs to several vehicles to keep the convoy going;so everything worked out exceptionally well.

First pic is at the Chilliwack Military Education Center of all 3 CMP's, second pic is of the half track in Penticton, then 2 wide shots of the group in Princeton on our last day.

Walde

PS A 261 is going into the FAT this week end.

Default Awesome

Great pictures Walde !! Looks like you guys had a great time.

The .5 on the Scout car worries me just how authentic you fellahs are. Now I know what happened to that ferrari.

It's certainly going to be an agenda item at our next meeting. Even if we just went to mile 0 and back that would be 2400 kms round trip. We could hit a whole group of legions we haven't visited yet, AN&AF too!
