Default Relocation to Gloucester, NSW in 2010.

Greetings all

I have been a passive (a bit like looking through the window of a lolly shop) forum member for a couple of years, and still wondering whether to dip my toe into this amazing, resourceful and obviously rewarding world, globally at that!.

I am planning to relocate from Sydney to Gloucester, NSW (north of Newcastle and west-ish from Taree) in early 2010, and I am wondering about the level of support and resources available in that neck of the woods.

My probable wish is to get hold of and restore a Studebaker US6 (drove lots in my Army Reserve (aka CMF)), and am currently making some enquiries on this forum re. a Blitz that I have become aware of (but won't own).

Given that Blitz's are probably more common than Studs, can anyone offer any advice on Blitz (or Studs) availability in the NSW Hunter region.

In anticipation, thanks.

Bruce G

They don't call us the lucky country for nothing. Outstanding!

And why does this sort of thing dismay our wives? They should be overjoyed to see us so happy.

I flew over the Hunter recently looking for CMPs but we were too high I think...

This pic was taken at the end of the valley as we headed over the Divide towards Orange.

G'day All, The most noticeable thing you will find about relocating to that part of the world is virtually no traffic, no pollution, different weather you will most likely think you have died it's that quiet LOL compared to that orrible place called Sydney and you will most likely see these in the streets at times no kidding anyway I'm sure you love it cheers Dennis

Default Taree Blitz

Congrats on the Move. You will love it up here. My Dad and I are renovating a Blitz just outside of Taree. Look us up next year when you settle in & come and have a look. Peter (peterinair67)

Default To all contributors - thanks.

Dave - thanks for your comments from so far away. How did you track down so many trucks in the Coffs area in so short a time? did you make it to the BIG BANANA?

Keith - did you REALLY, REALY fly over the Hunter in that fine aircraft.

Hang on !!!!!! Are you both WW2 veterans reminiscing? I know there were lots of Yanks "over here, over paid", and over ...... ???????" (damn, I forgot the rest!)

The plane says MHOR (Me Hunting Old (W)Recks".

Dennis - yep 60 years in Sydney is enough. Why did we pick Gloucester ? No @#$%^& Woolworths!!!!!!!!!.

Driving past a sawmill on the Bucketts's Way south of Gloucester a few months ago I saw what appeared to be a Studebaker US6 fire tanker in its front yard. Must sniff it out next time.

Dave again. Yes, it was wet last year; seems there are never drought conditions in the Gloucester area, but lots of water closer to the coast and up to Coffs Harbour. Did you get caught in the floods?

Pererinair67. Will certainly takke up your offer to visit, but will I need a passport? Hong Kong via Taree. Is that a property name or a locality. Do I take a cut lunch or a set of chopsticks when I visit ?? Are there any Studebaker or Blitz projects up your way that I could get hold of next year?

Thanks

Bruce

Yes, but I was in a Cessna taking the picture Much of my luggage was in the gun bays in the wings though - what lucky undies and toothpaste, eh!

MH-R sounds good - very creative.

MH is the code for 83 Squadron RAAF and R is the individual aircraft code.
