![]() I will be in Woodstock , Ontario on Jan 22nd, with plans of making my way to Picton, Ontario the next day. I leave Toronto on Jan. 26th, so I want to take full advantage of my time there. While down there, if any one knows where I could find a origional carrier engine I sure would like to hear from you. This holds true with any origional armour pieces for the Mk1, again, I would appreciate hearing from you. Please e mail me at: douglavoie@hotmail.com. Thanks, |

Dougie you will be hard pressed to find anyone willing to desecrate another hull it is pointless....... why not obtain a complete hull itself rather than create another butchered carrier, you may be cutting up a vehicle which has seen some historic action or carried numerous hero's into battle, even if you put "original" armor back on it wont correspond to the hull you are putting it on, it wont make your project any more valuable..if this is what you seek.......if i recall was your project not going to be a working museum piece ? i would spend the time to remake some from mild steel, you can easily replace all the marks and all the components are easy to remake. fair enough with the engine, after all carriers rarely maintain they're orginal engine as they were often changed out. if you keep your eyes open you often see them on ebay. plan B sell your current Hull to fund a rebuild of a full unit. i know Martyn or even myself would perhaps be interested in your current one, not to mention the likes of Dirk Leegwater over Holland way.
cheers Richie "Please dont defile anymore carriers"

Richard,
Wow, all that for trying to find some parts! Parts that most probably are left to rust or even get thrown out in time. I must have missed the part where I am asking people to desecrate their hulls, cut up carriers for their parts. The ability of knowing what one`s friends may say... Just outstanding! I know of only one that can! Thank you for your valued input. You really are a most remarkable chap! One more thing, I do answer to Doug, Douglas, is reserved for the Gov`t and such. Dougie was reserved only for my parents, who have long since passed away. Have a nice day! |

Appologies Doug,
when you were asking for original armor with there being a number of threads allready on the go for re producing armor i perhaps foolishly presumed that you were looking for an untouched set to put on your carrier, and as it is usually the case when cut off by folk using them as work horses ie bits lying around rusting in a field they tend to be chopped above the rivets with a gas axe as drilling the rivets is so hard and time consuming (therefore the plate would be next to useless to re use as untouched armor)so again presumed you would be looking for a hull to chop up for its plate. also not so long ago there was a chap asking for armor or a hull to act as a donor to cut up for its armor.. i figured the worse and presumed this is perhaps the "norm" in Canada, after all carriers are more in abundance there, bit like Vauxhall Astra's here in the UK. "ALL THAT FOR ME TRYING TO FIND SOME PARTS" sorry if i appear to have jumped the gun but i get extremely pissed when i hear of the above activities taking place especially knowing what the vehicles potentially have been through during their life. to me it is both a waste and a total lack of respect to do it. the long winded reply was to explain my response without it appearing that i am yelling at you, you will notice there are no exclamation marks in the post (or shouldnt be)........... merely trying to get my point across without causing offence..... guess i failed on that part ![]() as for "Dougie" my bad i had no idea about your parents but i live on tuther side of the globe and EVERYONE here in Newcastle called Douglas gets called "Dougie" it is a typical Geordie short name, so perhaps force of habbit there. i aplogise once again, i am sure you can appreciate from my response how passionate i am about this, i will hold my tongue / fingers. please continue to Crack on, and good luck incidentally had you asked i could have posted you paper patterns for a full mk1 front end which i have. cheers Richie

Richard,
Appologies accepted. Lets move on shall we? I have sent you a private reply with address and info. on your offer for the paper pattern. I still leave the offer open on the Mk1 instrument panel (only if you need it) I would have been at my cost! I believe that was why this forum was set up , the exchange of knowledge, idea`s, parts, and most important, friendship. Lets move on..... back to the hunt! |
