Default m38a1 harness

I'm trying to figure out my harness for my m38a1 and am stumped by one plug similar to the trailer plug. This plug is a female 12 prong plug and was never attached to anything when i tore the jeep apart. Wat is it for?? thanks

Where do you think it was mounted?

There was a plug that was similar to the trailer plug, but was opposite. It goes on the trailer. Most of the smaller SMP Cdn trailers had the intervehicle cable permanently attached, so this wasn't used. We do use it on some of the larger trailers that are hooked to SMP trailers, like the 30,000 lb flatdeck and the semi trailers.

A photo would save a lot of speculation however.

This plug is apart of the main harness but was never connected to anything. I was thinking maybe it is for a switch on the dash. I see pictures of dashes that have a switch body with three individual levers on it but i do not have that on mine. Would this be what it is suppose to plug into and i'm just missing it? thanks again

That will be the master light switch. The same switch was used from the Jeep right up to battle tanks. Yours should have this switch.

While the plug in the back has remained the same over the years, the switches themselves have gotten lighter. There is even a push button type available these days.
