Hi Guys,
I figure this is one of the better places to pose this question. I am currently making some small grenade boxes out of 24 to 26 gauge steel (glav.) and need to make a couple of butt corner welds (1/4 long) and I also have to attach a 3/32 wire to a lip (basically two good tack welds). The original box lid is gas welded, which I would like to reproduce but I could get away with brazing. The question: which is better to use in this application MAPP/Oxy or Mapp or Map/Pro? I have seen a Bernzomatic Oxy Map/pro (though not actually MAPP) are they worth it? I have welded with oxyacetylene in the past but cannot justify the need for my own set (well not yet, anyway) and I am aware of the precautions needed when welding galv. I only solder or spot weld outdoors mostly as a fire precaution. Cheers, Dave |
