Is it possible to use 9x20's on my C15-A?
Someone said it was but now I'm not so sure. Anyone have any experience with this? |

Get the rims off a 60 cwt and they'll bolt right on. They look a bit oversize but they up your overall ratios quite a bit.

So If I only have the rims from my C15-A, I'm out of luck?

Considering that you have 16 inch rims, then yes, you are out of luck trying to put on 20" tires.
The 16 inch rims do have more meat on them than a normal 16" rim. I have some with 16.5 inch tires on them that go on pretty nice. Then again, 16.5 tires are not easy to find either. |

Hi Pedro
You should be able to find good 20 inch rims out West where you live..... and they will fit....they look good as they fill the fender well nicely... gives you more top speed..... but caution.... your brakes better be good...... 10 mph more can really tax your brakes. Another consideration is that a 16" rim and military tire weights over 140 pounds...... a good men can handle it alone..... not sure of the weight of a 20 inch tire and rim .... but your wife better be around to help you..... I used a set of 1100 X 20's on a trip in 2005. Tremendous top speed, i passed slower cars on the freeway. Biggest problem was the gap between 2 to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. I had to really wind it out before up shifting and it easily lost momentum on hills. Ended up gearing way down, sometimes to 2nd.
Looked cool though, I'll try to find a picture from that 2005 trip. |

Thats before I put the Fenton Exhaust on it too.
I run 10.50 16's now and it's Ok on the freeway but for the most part i stick to the side roads. Plus I've sorted out the breaks a lot over the years too. |

Hi Hatty
So with a 235...... assuming all the horses have had there daily ration of oats you are running with at least a 50% improvement in HP and 30% in torque over the original 216...... We compared the 9x16 tires next to a 10:50 tire and noticed approx. a 2 inch increase in height..... and almost half way between a 9x16 and a 11x20 tire. The 10:50 does fill the fenderwell nicely. On my current set of 9x16 of which are two Goodyear and two other brands like the Mohawk.... they are still mounted on my C15a........ when resting on the concrete barn floor....all four tires are of different heights...... even the two Goodyear are about an inch different.....over all the four tires there is almost a 2 inch difference....... now it make sense that in the first section of the MB C2 so much attention is written about insuring that tire sizes are properly matched....... I can now understand the stress the driveline of my C15a would have if fully loaded and driven in 4x4....... . Setting up your brakes properly and keeping them up to specs is essential to having dependable brakes...... we are not used to adjusting brakes anymore on oour modern vehicles....... good old days my foot..... noticed how many adjustments are needed after even just a 1000 miles. Hi Pedro,
I have a set of 5 Ferett tires that will fit your truck if you are interested and the tread style looks good on a WWII CMP.2 of the tires were mounted on CMP rims but took them off. They will fit right on and the other 3 tires will have to be trimmed on the inside for them to fit good on the rims.I now have my 7-11.00 x 20 tires from Edmonton in my shed and would like to sell the 5 ferett tires before winter.I had dropped the price to $800.00 but winter is getting closer so if you are interested, let me know and you can come over and have a look at them and we can deal! You can call me at 770-7038 anytime before 3:00 pm or after 8:00 pm. ![]() For more pictures look in the for sale or trade section under ferett tires for sale and I took as many pictures as I could to show what I have and condition. Regards,Derk.
