Default CDN M38A1 in-service photos?

I have been fruitlessly searching the internet for in-service photos of Canadian M38A1s. There are a few out there, but none of them really give much detail of paint and markings. So, if anyone has any such photos and would be willing to post them online, it would be greatly appreciated. I am particularly interested in photos of the camoflage which was applied circa 1980. Also interested in photos of trucks serving with B.C. units, especially armoured reconnaisance units.

Mike

Do you have a copy of Service Publications little book on the vehicle?

Go to the regimental museums, especially the light armd recce ones like BCDs, SallyH,SaskDs, FGH. I have been to the FGH museum and they have a fair amount of photos of the vehicles from many different eras.

I have posted the "by the book" camouflage pattern for the jeeps on this site a few times. It did not change from the time they were drawn out in the 70s until the Jeeps left service in the late 80s.

There will be variances as not every transport section posted them for the guys to see, so some guys just made them up.

I do have the Service Pubs book, but (no offence, Clive) it doesn't have a lot of the kind of pictures I am looking for and only the one on the cover in colour.

I have also been to some of the RCAC regimental museum websites (BCD, BCR, KOCR, Sask Ds, Ontarios) as well as bunch of infantry unit sites, many units do not seem to have (working) websites. I will try FGH and see what happens.

Thanks to all.

Mike

BTW, Clive...the CFR plate 08888 shown on Ramtank website was assigned to an M38A1CDN3 on the Lorne Scots DA/MIU.

The veh was always referred to as "crazy eights".

It was pedestal mounted for a GPMG.

Default Old Photos

Here are a few old scanned photos but not to many markings.
Take a look at the bumper on the tow jeep.

Default M38A1s in use by Canadian Peace Keeper Forces

I know that I have seen pictures of M38A1s in use by Canadian Peace Keeper Forces, pretty sure that some have been posted on MLU but I have not turned up the thread yet. There have also been pictures published in Army Motors the MVPA magazine.

Cheers Phil
