Default Canadian Camp

HAYMILL CAMP, on the Burnham Road, near the Slough Trading Estate.

Does anyone know the Canadian units posted here during the filming of Colonel Blimp 1942 around the time of the Dieppe raid

Dave Hayward would be the best to answer this but isn't this the camp for the Canadian soldiers who were invovled in the assembly of CMPs?

Default Haymill Camp

We have of course touched on all this before in previous thread[s] aboutn the Haymill Camp that was located nearish to the Canadian Mechanization Depot in the Citroen Cars Ltd works on the Slough Trading Estate.

Quote:
The Camp was in fact Haymill Camp in Burnham Lane, and it was thought that it might have been the original Royal Engineers camp, dating from the previous war and possibly recently-vacated by British troops. The camp was by then occupied by 2 (Overseas) Detachment R.C.O.C. personnel, amongst others.

Default Rcoc

As just mentioned, RCOC but others but I don't know yet which regiments. There were also Canadian motorycylists involved in the film..does that suggest which others were there?

Jeff;

You stated that you’re interested in the time frame of August 1942, for Canadian units at Slough. The list, which you have posted, is totally unrelated. The list you’ve posted, is that of the “Corps Troops” of the II Canadian Corps, which didn’t come into being until approximately 14 January 1943. Although Headquarters, II Canadian Corps was located at Cobham, Surrey, from February to October 1943 (approximately 23.80 miles (38 kilometres) from Slough), many of the units you have listed, did not come into being until the beginning of 1943, itself, and onwards.

Cheers
