Default Canada's crucified soldier

Of particular interest, perhaps, to Art Johnson.

History Channel tonight, in a one hour program, exactly 89 years after the incident, described the crucification of a Canadian Sergeant by the Germans.

The Sergeant was pinned by up to 8 bayonets to a barn door near St Julien after most of his C Coy of the 48th Highlanders were captured.

His name was Sgt Harry Band. His name is inscribed on the walls of the Menin Gate. His remains have never been recovered.

In all my years of service, collecting, talking to like-minded folks, reading, researching...I've never heard of this incident having happened.

Comments?...and if someone has the expertise, perhaps one could copy this to Dorosh's "Canadian Soldiers".
