Default Mercedes L4500S

This appears to be a post war (1956) production of the war time Mercedes-Benz L4500S, modified by the addition of a crane. Not my field at all, but sources say that some 1500 of these were built post war, but this is right hand drive??
This was supposed to be up and running for a job last week, but apparently there is a bit of a trick to starting what appears to be the original 7.2l diesal.
Unfortunate that the mudgaurd appears to have a small imperfection.....
Keeping the Merc. company, Thornycroft Nubian
Rich.
