Hi Ilian,
I think this is similar, if not identical, to a GMC CCKW 353 spare wheel carrier (NMP)

I also think so but the problem is that on these few pictures of G8Ts with spare under the body this area is in shadow and nothing is visible there. TM 9-806 stays silent and other sources deal only with the spare under the chassis frame rear. Restorers also weren't of help. So I wanted to be sure. Cheers!
