Hi folk. I do 1/35 scale models and would like to do a F60H and also a C60X.
I need details of the following. picture or drawing of the rear spring setup especially were it attaches to the chassis. on the Chev 6X6 pics of the rear diffs and driveshaft set up. On the Ford 6X4 pics of the rear lazy axle. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Information needed. Did the Australian forces have/use the early cab 12 F60H wreaker as pictured below(scanned pic from wheels and tracks #34) Thanks for any help ![]() |

As far as I know we didn't use the F60H here although there are reports of one or more wrecks in existence.
We did however use the C60X in a number of versions with both the army and RAAF.

Keith, you have put me to proof as to whether I had any hard evidence that there were indeed some F60H trucks used by Austrakian forces. I always thought that there were some # 13 Cab Wreckers used, although I cannot now find any confirmation! I know of the Indian contracts and the Canadian DND papers rather confirm that India received the last of the F60H chassis produced and well after Canada had dropped the design in favour of the C60X.
I have checked my Norm Darwin Ford book and there was nothing in there...all I have is an official Canadian photo of a F60H Wrecker, 1942 Model, that came out of Australia. My problem is that there were no known British orders for F60H chassis, i.e. for UK delivery, but the Brits did purchase for the Indian Army and it is possible that they purchased some for Mid-East delivery, then issued some to the AIF. Otherwise all Canadian orders for overseas were for UK assembly, e.g. with British bodies. |
