When new the motor and transmissions were painted Chevy grey like the civvy motors and when they got rebuilt they were painted body colour. I'm not sure about the Jeeps

Thanks!
WW2 jeeps were from fabric all Olived Drab but many discussions on what beeing the correctk olive drab color. There were probably many differences due to different LOTS, different factories, temperature when applied and so on. I would find one you like among those approved by most people. After assembly line some where painted navy grey, airforce blue, USMC forrest green etc. GPW engines were Ford Engine Grey almost same as Ferguson Grey. MB engines were green, olive drab. Take a look here for more info about color on the colors on the jeeps: http://jeepdraw.com/PART_COLOURS.htm Svenn |

Hi All
Here is a link for you that brings up all the previous MLU threads which include the "Engine Color" https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...pe=&as_rights= As you can see this is a regular question with many different answers. My problem is that I suspect that most if not all of the answers are correct. Now to Svenn's question concerning a C15A there is photographic evidence from period photos that the Chevy engines were painted gray. Accept all three of my trucks `41, `42 and `43 with apparently original engines were painted black. Cheers Phil
