Get yourself a manual from Alex Blair , on this forum and in the MLU links. It has the track setup and brake setting procedure in it . It is easy but has multiple steps. Not to mention there is all the info you need in it. I have several from Alex and they are outstanding repros , very clear and legible.

I have a copy of the operators manual for a carrier. I would have to dig it out, but can have a look for you tomorrow morning. I am in Langley so if I have it, its easier to get you a copy. Randy |

Tony..
While you may be trying to help out ,by posting this proceedure,it may pose a hazardous situation for the novice.. Is this proceedure done with the carrier jacked up..??Track on..??or off..?? What is the rest of it.. This is also taken from B section of the Carrier workshop manual.. I will post pictures from my manuals ,but not maintenance proceedures that my endanger the users life or limb.. A carrier owner should have a full set of manuals ,read cover to cover before he turns a wrench.. Thanks

Alex,
I have found that you are sometimes hard to get a hold of also, and sort of crusty when gotton ahold of. Very "curmudgeon" like, but in a good way. ![]() Would it be possible to meet for lunch some time next week when I am in Ottawa? The wife and I and Perry Kitson are at Notre Dame High School on Broadview Thursday and Friday, then near Minto Bridge on Saturday, followed by a parade downtown on Sunday. Perhaps we could find a nice place to get a snack. This outing would help my Carrier brake adjusting - I put on new shoes 3 years ago when I rebuilt mine, and have only 35 miles since. The manual says to adjust again after 50! See you in Ottawa. Stewart |

Stew..
When you said quote... "I have found that you are sometimes hard to get a hold of also, and sort of crusty when gotton ahold of. Very "curmudgeon" like..". I was only crusty when you were squeezing too hard on the place that your had a hold of me by ...trying to get manuals out of me...and parts and info and anything else you could wheel and deal out of me...and now you want to do lunch....?????? I feel the grip tightening once more.... .. I am listed in the Ottawa phone book under my real name at my real address ,which is also posted on my web site and my e-mail address is also there... Just go to the site and click on it and I'll get the message.. I am working days but any evening or a dinner date with you or Sat or Sunday would be fine.. I assume ,hopefully, that Mary will be there to keep you on the straight and narrow and crew the Carrier.. Maybe we can have a gather up of local dignitaries..Friday night.. Clive.. Don..Bob...any one else we can suck into buy beer.. What say you..???? E-mail me for futher particulars.. Or push the red button for the complaints dept.... http://www.funnyclicks.com/FCpics1/complain.jpg http://dana-nield.com/blair/

Crusty? Not at all! Scot-like yes, business man yes. When I was over Alex was the man who met me and drove me round, had nice meal at his home. Bought some manuals, business deal and fought for best deal as one does. Pity you guys are so far away! At least we have something in common though. Just seen disaster movie Day after Tomorrow I think it was called. Canadians and Scots were written off by you know who as the climate changed!! But little did they know that in Scotland we get temps of -155 degrees anyway!!!!!
Keep them manuals rolling out Alex, have a 6x4 CMP manual remember if you require a copy. Nigel |

Thanks guys I set the brakes today and drove around for an hour the brakes work fine its so nice to be able to stop,my back up plan was to go into the parade with my freinds half track infront of me to use as a break . a half track is always good to use as an emergency brake

You lucky bugger!
I usually have to haul that lump of mine 3 hours just to be allowed to drive it 2 kilometers at 0.3 k/hr in a parade. And then usually behind a bandfull of kilt wearing drummers ... ![]() The annual West End BBQ here in Ontario is in mid-August, so I hope to get out for my hour soon. Stewart |

It is not uncommon if i leave my work and go to were the carrier is stored and take it for a 1/2 hour drive ,Today was a fun one as i was driving in 4ft high hay and the seed from it was in my eyes I must were goggles when driving . The reason i can drive in a field of hay is that my aunt does not like to cut the hay, but it obscures her view of the deer that come into her field. so she likes me to drive the (lawn mower ) as she calls the carrier.

Gord queried "Was that an indirect slur on the Piob Mhor? "
Ach noo, I wouldna make fun of anything from those tiny island nations we in the new world remember faintly as 'home'. Although they do spell 'Stewart' wrong most times ... but my family is from a tad east of there, over on the continent. Noo then, lad, I dinna want ye treatin Sassenach like inferior folk, een though thats often true. There are guid, kind, intelligent and een holy people among their different tribes. Why, maist o the saints ye hear tell of are Sassenach. That's why yere no tae be treating folk unkindly just for an accident o birth that they're nae Scots - pity them, aye, but dinnae mock them. ![]() But I am sensitive to Scottish sensibilities, or those with Scotch in them ( as they say), so if I have offended any of them I will gladly buy them a beer at the Chatsworth BBQ and CMP fun day that is up your way on the 26th. See you there. Stewart (Stuart) |

Gord,
I have attached a picture of the fun 2 weekends ago in Windsor. The city honoured the D-Day veterans with a parade, dinner, bands, displays, and some public events. The first Carrier behind the Sherman is mine - I would have traded looking at the backside of a drummer for breathing the exhaust from that tank! Stewart sorry - pix won't load - GWB where are you to fix this? |

Hey, I've worn a kilt before, and a damned handy thing it was too!
![]() If your pic won't load it's because it's either over 700 pixels width or over 100Kb in size. Address both and you'll be OK. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
