ECC Codes

As if I didn't have enough maintenance to do on RamTank.ca after Eric Booth and Frank v R sent me a CD of photos and data, I came across several hundred DND photos of soft-skins between 1956-1996.
These are ordered by ECC (Equipment Configuration Code) so I have set up a new section on the website. Although only a few dozen photos have been uploaded to date, I will scan and post a photo for each line (about 800).
As always, feel free to e-mail me photos of ANY vehicle (soft-skin or AFV) that shows a CFR and I will eventually upload it.

ECC 132101 is described as a 3/4 ton trailer, but you clearly have a photo of a 133101 (1-1/2 ton) trailer with it.

Nitpicking aside, thanks for posting these photos.

Thnx Rob. Finger-fumble on the part of my chief clerk. I left out the 133101 line and dropped the photos into the wrong row.

134105 trailer, jerrican filling is interesting. It has CFRs painted on the fenders, yet it still has the British registration plate on it. It looks like it even has one of the command decals on the one fender.

I note the CFR is in the 02XXX range. I think Ihave seen this field of numbers used on other oddball vehicles purchased from other nations.

Now there are some memories. I was a young craftsman working on many of those vehicles. Back then, DND bought large batches of vehicles, many purpose built as fleet vehicles from the big 3. There were only 3 colours involved....yellow with black hood, Lincoln commercial green, and of course you could have the sedans in any colour as long as it was black. Oh, and maybe the odd ambulance in white.

Air conditioning was never in any of them, and even AM/FM radios were usually purchased by the transport canteen fund, as the cars did not come with them.

It's me nitpicking again. The entry for 125301 (M54 cargo) has a photo of a 125302 (M54 cargo w/winch). It also has that 125302 ECC painted on the bumper.

Wow Clive. Thanks for this. I have been looking for anything on the M-220CDN and there it is. I also remember many of the others you have posted. Keep up the good work.

For Christmas I received a electronic slide scanner.

In the last few weeks I found my slide collection.

This winter I will attempt to start scanning all those mundane white fleet vehicles for your site plus all the esoteric non standard SMP vehicles.

No 13 Works Company, RCE, was a static unit stationed at Griesbach Barracks.

Was the jerry can filler used for water or petrol? It would make sense that it would be a piece of Engineer equipment if it was for water. My knowledge of logistical procedure is rather limited.

The machine, ECC 134105 was for filling fuel cans. There was a problem with the machine as it had to be modified to fill US style cans as opposed to the British ones.
