Default Last Mail from Birdsville - the story of Tom Kruse

If you're in the vicinity of Marree at the Southern end of the Birdsville Track, this may be your last chance to meet the legendary Tom Kruse, outback legend and star of the 1954 classic "Back of Beyond" as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first screening and launch a double DVD of our program "Last Mail from Birdsville - the story of Tom Kruse" paired with the full Back of Beyond.

It'll be a special event, so bring your tent or swag along!

The 1936 Leyland Badger will be there along with Tom and his wife and a replica F60L cab 12 "open air" which was part of the movie.

Full details on the Last Mail from Birdsville website.

Default Who's going?

Any of you South Australians going to Marree 24-25 July?
I'd like to get an idea of who will be there so we can plan to catch up. I'll be driving from Melbourne (two day trip) and I hope to see some of you there.
We'll be launching the DVD of the Last Mail from Birdsville in a two DVD pack with the original Back of Beyond. Our DVD has some interesting special features such as the original 1986 mail run, one of South Australia's 150th celebrations, carried out with 2 C60Ls as the main mailtrucks. One of these has been on display outside the Marree pub since the event and is slowly deteriorating.
The DVD is only available in Australia and New Zealsnd, partly because of the expense of making a NTSC version, but mainly because of licencing reasons for the Back of Beyond material.
For those of you who can buy it, there's plenty of blitz action in it, and it can be ordered through the Royal Flying Doctor Service, details are on the Last Mail website
