This is going to sound a little weird.
I am looking for a spare wheel for my ex-Army Horndraulic trailer. They seem to be rare and even the trailer at the engineers museum is missing its spare. ![]() I have been told by an enthusiast in Canberra, that some time ago a fellow was selling an entire Horndraulic axle with two rims, but he didn't get the contact details. The only info he has is the potos of a couple of Jeeps he had for sale. ![]() ![]() Any information on whom it may have been or contact details would be greatly appreciated. The meet may have been in Queensland.
Another image where you can see the wheels, there were actually two axles. ![]() Probably sitting under someone else's trailer by now! ![]() If we can identify the vendor, I can actually distribute the 4 wheels as spares for 4 different trailers, one at the Engineers Museum. That was a father and son setup at the recent MJCQ Canungra Swap. I bought a few Land Rover rims off them but can't remember their name...

Hi Phil
Apparently the truck in the background belongs to Ken L***** so am trying to track his contacts down. Have another lead on some stub axles and wheels on a farm in South Oz so in 24 hours am getting further than I've got in 12 months. Although it still may come to naught, that seems to be the way with me at times! ![]() At least this time it's not some scammer from the UK trying to get me to send him money without photos or proof he had the items. BTW: Did you have any worries with the recent fires? Cheers Diana |

Hello Diana,
If the people had a stall at MJCQ Canungra Swap they may have had to be registered vendors. If you can contact the MJCQ organisers they may be able to identify the vendors and their contact details. It is worth a try I suppose. Kind Regards Lionel

Hi Guy's,
I have posted a pic of mine (1st pic)which had been modified by the RAAF for pallets and also pics of other members trailers. My trailer was also missing the spare wheel and I was not quick enough to get the original RAAF made sides shown in the picture. I believe the missing spare wheels was a government thing. I went to numerous auctions and hardly ever did any of the trailers have spare wheels - strange! the government might have thought there might be a problem if these got into the hands of the wrong person...... ![]() I modified my trailer because I had no spare and wanted to make use of the trailer. I used the same axels and replaced the backing plates with electric brake backing plates and matching hubs/drums. The result was scary awesome braking ![]() These trailers have a common fault where by they are prone to axel breakage on the ends which is hard to fix. The Camouflaged trailer pictured(2nd pic) remained where it was pictured for a number of years I believe due to this problem. I Would like to return my trailer to original if I could get a spare for it so if you do find some Dianaa.....PLEASE keep me in mind ![]() Regards, Brett Nicholls Last edited by Brett Nicholls; 22-11-13 at 03:11. |

I have a wheel spare here in Sydney if you're still interested, it is as supplied and has some surface rust on the middle of the centre. The tyres look almost unused but have no date, speed or weight markings so must be rather ancient. Send me a PM, we can perhaps catch up near Prestons, over the weekend. Diana |

Can anyone explain what the RE 5/99 marking would refer to?

This is my trailer as picked up.
![]() ![]() There is a story just in that which should wait for around the camp fire, suffice to say it was to be picked up by truck and transported back to Sydney from the Esk Valley in Victoria. Unfortunately the pickup location was unsuitable and an alternative depot in Albury Wodonga was uncontactable. Hence in Gundagai: ![]() |
