These wheels are made of a dished steel plate with holes, rather than the usual cast manufacturing method.
I think they are most often seen on Wolseley-built Loyd Carriers, sometimes also as replacement wheels on Universals. Pictures posted here for reference only; who has more pictures and or background info?

Hanno, I believe they are late war production. An alternative method of manufacture.

They are often misidentified as being German Maultier wheels. Alex edit: I think it was this thread http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...=wheels&page=2

Does anyone have the TL part number from these road wheels? I have a late war parts book which lists all the British alternatives but I don't know which one is the holed type. The maultier ones have fewer holes.

Hello. If anyone is interested, I have one of these wheels available. Perfect rubber, most likely NOS. I no longer have any carriers, so I do not need it . Regards, Andy

I don't think these are carrier wheels, but rather generic heavy industrial trailer wheels - from which carrier wheels originated, obviously.
