Hey
I need some help with the placement of my spare holder on my jeep. I need to mount it on the passenger side but can't seem to find any existing holes. If someone has a picture of the mount with the tire off it would be a great help Here is what I'm working with. It needs to mount I believe on the tub and fender |

It is odd that your 106 jeep has the mounting holes for a GPMG bracket where the spare goes...yet no holes for the spare bracket?
Are you doing a conversion or is your jeep an actual 106 version? |

I dont know the exact locations of the holes, but the mount is quite far forward. It may even be entirely mounted on the fender. It had to be forward enough to allow the door to open on the passenger side. See photo.
My father converted a 106 jeep back to standard format, so he would have filled the holes. I will be able to look at that jeep next week, and Ill try to see if there is any evidence of the hole locations. Hopefully someone will give you the answer by then. I noticed in your other thread the holes for the fuel can mount are in the appropriate location per the photo below. Perhaps someone changed the right side fender at one point, and thats why you cannot find evidence of the holes...? It spent some time in Bordon after its time in Fredricton so it may have had the 106 taken off of it then and the GPMG added I'd like to find a mount if I could and add it as well. |

See att. Besides, the spare would fill half the door space.

Nice to see my photograph being shared without any credit - the reason why I now watermark everything.

Here is a shot from the manual showing the location of the bracket. Sorry, I don't know how to do a watermark. Tried it and now the monitor is dripping wet.

I am guilty of poaching both images off the interweb. Was not aware Ed and Rob had claims. Will note in the titles for the record.

Thanks everyone, I did the deed today and hung the shovel holder, spare and jerry can holder. Now I get to take it all off and paint it.
New question, what are people using for a pioneer tool on the jeeps? I have a grant but the spade seems to be bent out to far. Cheers Last edited by army brat; 14-08-16 at 02:02. |
