Default M 38 cdn

Need some help, mates:

I’m looking for this fellow who may be a member here or on other club sites:

Ed Smith
M 38 CDN Jeep
CFR No 52 -32152
Ontario Canada Registration

To make a long story short and keep people’s attention, I think he has a data plate that may go with my M38. It would help to solve a puzzle and maybe get these two together again.
Anyone who has a suggestion on how to get in touch with him (or any lead whatsoever) I’d much appreciate it.

Default CFR number

The CFR number you posted is missing a digit.

52-32152 is an unusually high CFR number that I have not seen reported previously. I do not think it is related to any M38CDN ever owned by the late Ed Smith of Toronto, but any further clues to this jeep would be interesting.

Online source: http://www.gvrdeu.org/M38%20Service%...umber%20DB.pdf

Near the bottom of the referenced document (above weblink), there seems to be documented CAR numbers for M38CDN's up to 52-32068. That is 84 digits off the number in question.

The c.a.r# for this m38cdn sounds quite leglt to me caus its only 2 numbers off mine..I put 52-32154 back on the road this spring..I'm told mine spent most of its life in London near the armory..id assume there's a good chance that's where 52-32152 originates from as well.

Why didn't I catch that sooner...the CFR ( Best I can tell - ) is 52 - 30152.

It has the inspectors' stamp, and some of the Jeep script is still on the front of the toolbox

Charlie,
I am unclear which CFR number you have: 52-32152 or 52-30152?
...Brian

Only thing on the ownership should be the actual vin#..starts like f10xxxx..I've noticed sometimes the make part of the ownership is off depending on who worked at the ministry that day..mine didn't say willys or ford..it was down as jeep..my neighbours is down as ford, the guy he bought it from assured him that he wasn't pulling a scam with the wrong ownership and had no idea why it was registered as a Ford..as far as the CFR goes, best to check the top of the drivers side frame to be sure.

Ok,my other frame is like that too..from what I've seen the first 300 did not have a CFR stamp on the frame, just the stencil..the last m38 cdn made was vin# f102135...so if yer vin# is f100300 or less that would explain lack of CFR stamp...unless of course someone used more than one unit to piece it together.
