Brockhouse Trailer

G'day All,
I found this today not far from home. I don't know anything about it and will appreciate any knowledge you might have. The trailer is supposed to have been purchased from RAAF disposals sales at Bairnsdale Victoria Australia, after WW11. I was told by the son of the origional owner that it was a search-light trailer. I think that it might be a Radar trailer, but as I said I haven't a clue.I think it has tortion-bar suspension but as to its carrying capacity I'm in the dark. Wheel size is 10-50 x 13. and the wheels are military patten split wheels.

What you have here is a trailer built for the RAF. it is to a Straussler design. Their Torsion Bar Trailer patents were bought by the Air Ministry and J. Brockhouse of West Bromwich were licensed to produce the trailers, of which around 10,000 were built during WW2. Often see as refueller tankers, house type bodies, lighthouse for aerodromes, etc.

A few can be found around the UK still, mostly refuellers.
