Hi Rob

As the C2s were winding down at the RCACS, I had 4 feet from the muzzle end of a condemned shot out barrel cut into 1/2" slices. Every soldier in my Sqn that year got one as a souvenir. The remainder of the barrel was divided between the Mat Techs and their metal cutting bansaw and the Weapons Techs for the condemnation.

Not something every Trooper would have access to back before the divestment. As well, the schools laser engraver was kept busy personalizing them.

It was done again a few years later so there is a few out there.

I see the slices selling at $50 a pop now and again too.<idea>

I'll be keeping my muzzle end piece and other.

regards
Darrell

I can see where the last 4 feet wouldn't be bad to work with, but having cut a couple of these barrels in the recent past, the heavier end is a bugger. Lots of meat on them.

Everyone seemed happy with there gifts that year. Hehe....yes, I bargained hard for the thinnest part. The business end. At the breech end, the walls are quite thick. A ten inch cut from there was given to our Armoured Recruit Troop. They shine it as required!

regards
Darrell
