Hi
I have recently acquired this wireless set 58 and was given this set 19. I was hoping that I could complete the set no 19 as a ground/truck station (hence the wireless table I have made) so I am looking for the remaining items and a manual (digital copy would be fine) so I can see what hooks up to what. I have some cables (12 pin and antenna) for it but they are all very long or very short? Also the PSU 6 pin socket has been converted to a civilian socket so I am looking for a replacement. I also found this set 58, but think I am missing a battery box and some antenna sections, but like wise I am looking for the remaining parts and a manual. Would any one be able to help. Cheers niels

You'd want to find a copy of the WS19 Installation Instructions for Truck and Ground stations. It has lists inside for all the needed equipment and cables for this setup.

I may be able to help with a manual for the 58 set. What is interesting is your pic
http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/at...6&d=1496413429 of the 58 set. It's the lid for the battery box but quite unlike the 'battle battery' shown in the manual. Your set is either a Mk.1* or Mk.1* Tropical and the lid would suggest those variants of the 58 set had a different (probably waterproof) battery case of a type I've never seen before. |

Hello Bruce
The battery top Niels shows is complete, the lower box was eliminated and the battery was held by an elasticized strap. Probably to conserve material and reduce the weight. Geoff |

Interesting case on the 58-Set itself. Mine is a 10 August 1943 product ( Wireless Set No. 58 (Canadian) Mark I) with a completely smooth, sharp edged case. No pressed ribs. On/Off switch mounted on the top end, not down by the aerial mounts, and it only has two lid clasps on the long, front face, not two pairs set to either end. Nice to see such an interesting variation here.

Hi Thanks for all the replies.
Does any one know where I could find a battery for a set 58 then?

I can't recall where I found this but here is a photo of the original battery. Two other alternatives are the PSUs made in Italy. They seem to work quite well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PSU-6-o-Vo...oAAOSw6DtYUscw http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWER-SUPP...QAAOSwcUBYOVVr Last edited by Bruce MacMillan; 08-06-17 at 08:07. The battery wasn't mine but I can give you the dimensions of the inside of the battle battery box. The battery should be quite close.
Inside dimensions are 10" length, 2.75" width & 8.75" depth. There is a felt lining inside as well to make the battery snug. It is 1/4" thick on the ends & 1/8" thick on the sides. |
