Default Welcome to Ruritania

Actualy this picture is of a US Army refridgeration truck crossing the Belgian/Dutch border in about Feb/March 1945. But get that uniform!

Default Customs

I would have thought that the re-establishment of border controls (especially io the military) would have waited until after VE day? Knowing European bureaucracy, once Customs controls are re-imposed it could add 2 years to the war - just completing the paperwork!!

You can't keep those Benelux bureaucrats down. Photos are from a series published about May 1945 so the war was still on when this was taken. Given that the trucks were transporting chilled lamb and beef to the front I'm surprised that French farmers hadn't already torched them.
