There are a few lots of these tires listed, and I am sure many more to come. A year or two ago Michelin indicated to the DND that they would no longer be making the 8.25-16 tire that the army has been using on the G-wagons. So the army went to Wrangler tires and bought all new rims. The old tires are usually quite serviceable, and will range from new to somewhat used. I have installed the tires on the M37 at work along with some of the artillery limbers. The tire beads have to be skived, but are very heavy duty, and don't look out of place. On the M37, it gives fantastic traction. So here are pallets of 5 in Toronto that will likely go for less than $400. After you are done you can likely take the aluminum rims to the local scrapyard and get $10 a piece, or else make some hillbilly art out of them. These would not look out of place on a smaller chassis cmp like a HUP, which seemed to use a smaller 9.00-16. Last edited by rob love; 17-08-20 at 03:46. |

Rob do you know what the bolt pattern is on these? Is it some weirdo European size?

The 5 X 130 bolt pattern is common to PORSCHE, VOLKSWAGEN, SUZUKI, MERCEDES BENZ and AUDI vehicles. For a more definitve list, see here: https://www.roadkillcustoms.com/whee...5x5.12-inches/

So in other words useless for pretty much anything North American. At least the tires are useable

Most bases were breaking down the rims and wheels, and putting the tires in the scrap pile, where they would net maybe 2 or 3 dollars a tire. But Toronto saved themselves some work and put them into CADC on skids of 5. The first sales netted around $1500 to 1800 per lot. Eventually the prices dropped down to about where they are now.
I got about 6 or 8 pallets full of these tires from one of the units on base for the museum. They did not want, nor have the time, to break them down just to achieve scrap value. We will use the tires, and the rims will likely get used as vehicle supports around the back compound. Last edited by rob love; 17-08-20 at 13:45. |

The site I linked to says it is the Suzuki LT500R Quadracer, 1987 to 1989, on the rear wheels only. It doesn't get much more obscure than that around here. While the bolt pattern may be correct, it is doubtful that the quad could accept these tires.
