Sudanese Defence Force Truck ID help please

This photo is from the album of H.C. Vickery, who was in the SDF and took part in the 'Kufra' convoys. The album contains some photos of LRDG subjects too, who operated in a similar area and from the same bases. Time period would be 1941 - late 1942.
The SDF were known to have operated Chevrolet MCP 1543 and Ford CMP 3 Tonners amongst others, based on wrecks found in the Desert. The trucks were modified in a similar way to LRDG trucks, most likely in the same base workshops.
This photo shows a truck with a condenser mounted on the LHS, which I haven't seen before. The cab has been removed and it is fitted with sand tyres (no surprise there), and a Coles Sun Compass, not a Bagnold Sun compass (which were known to have been issued to the SDF). Fairly sure the photo hasn't been reversed.

Any ideas?

His jacket buttons up left over right which would suggest that the photo has not been reversed.
