Hi Paul
I did mine with a flat bronze in a metal spray can........ I always assumed that originally they all got sprayed with the same factory base color...... hard to tell from the factory B/W photos....... While I have your attention did you raise your seats with a wooden spacer? and if so how high. My issue right now is that both seats are flat on the steel floor.....and on rough roads the sliding mechanism of the seat rails slips and with my long legs they go all the way back....... and it has becomed a "PAIN" in the back because when the seat is fully back the back rest fits underneath the angle iron of the back wall and really chews up the old backbone...... I will fix the sliders some how ......but lifting the seat and the back rest would be safer even if only one inch........ could also install a solid non-folding CMP seat frame from an early CMP..... Sadly the good days are coming to an end and will have to moth ball the truck in the sea can in the next few days.... Still have some fitting to do on the repro 2B1 box..... fenders/flaps, lights and fuel can boxes....... found water had accumulated in the drop side top panels..... may take them off..... drill hole in the top reinforcement panels and saturate the inside with anti rust coating then reseal.... better now then rusting later. PS the Chev emblem, black light gauge steel, was actually used in civilian trucks mid 30s....engine side panels.... and they do come up as repro on Ebay once in a while......

Hi Bob,
Yes b/w period photos would suggest base coat colour, seems a shame to paint now I've cleaned up the brass. My seats have an 38mm thk timber base for the sliders to mount. I've only fixed them temporary for moving the truck around the yard. I haven't done a trip to test just how uncomfortable the driving position is. I'm on the last 10% of the build and I have to admit its the hardest slog. I'll post some pictures once I got more to boost about. Cheers, Paul

I cleaned up the brass one and have since let it dull up. I like the look.
Hanno, I too have a very rusty stamped steel one. There must have been a change in production at some point. I’m thinking to save on brass for other needs.

I always understood Cab 11 and 12's came with brass badges, and Cab 13's with steel ones.......but I presume the change from brass to steel didn't coincide perfectly with the cab switch. I have a brass one for my Cab 11, and also have the remains of a steel one.......and a resin copy/repro from LWD.
