Default Desert Sand to Jungle Mud Volume 2: Tracked Carriers

Keith Webb and I are pleased to announce that we are now taking orders for Volume 2: Tracked Carriers. The book is the same high quality hard cover A4 size book that readers appreciated with Volume 1, but bigger with more pages and over 500 images.

To see details and purchase a copy, go to https://www.michaelkcecil.com/page/4...-to-jungle-mud and scroll down to Volume 2, then choose the appropriate country to order.

A few copies of Volume 1: Trucks 1/4 ton (jeep) and Trailers are also still available.

Enjoy!

Mike & Keith

Yes indeed !

Considering the long hours of research and editing that goes into these publications, they are a bargain .

I'm guessing the next book in the series will be on CMP trucks ?

Default Vol 3 ...

Hi Mike K, no, not CMPs.

Volume 3 text is well advanced, and the image list is growing!

But no hints just yet on subject.

Default Err ... what's in it?

I've been getting a few "so what's in the book?" queries. These are the chapters and appendices:

1. In the Beginning: Pre-war imports and Defence Policy - the lead up to local Australian manufacture
2. MG LP1 - follows the development, manufacture and use of the MG LP1 carrier
3. MG LP2, 2A and 2B - yes, there was officially a 2B!
4. MG Carrier Experiments, Tests and Trials - everything from flamethrowers to floating carriers.
5. The Carrier, Armoured Observation Post (Aust) No.1 - the what??
6. MG Carrier No.3 Pilot Model - what it was and why it was developed
7. Anti-tank 2-pdr Carriers - developments in Australia, the Middle East and the alternate forward-shooting Australian design
8. 3 inch Mortar Carriers - why the 400 (Aust) carriers went to China, plus the development of the mortar carrying versions.
9. Tracked Truck - development and trials
10: English Carriers - more than you may think went to Australia
11. Carrier Transportation - from 3 ton truck to the dedicated carrier trailer
12. The Weasel Cargo Carrier - tested but found wanting

Appendix 1: Nomenclature and definitions - what makes it an LP1, LP2, LP2A and LP2B?
Appendix 2: Orders for carriers - very detailed list of complete carrier orders and parts orders, and a few cancellations
Appendix 3: Carrier Build quantities - our best attempt at listing how many of each type were actually built.
Appendix 4: Modifications to Carriers, MG, LP1 - how you can tell an early from a late production LP1
Appendix 5: Carrier Nomenclature plates - images showing the differences
Appendix 6: Tracked Truck Registrations - list of registrations and fates.
Appendix 7: English Carriers in Australian Service - example list of registrations, builders and places
Appendix 8: Carrier Transport Trailer registrations
Appendix 9: DME Technical Instructions - reproduction of the various instructions related to carriers
Appendix 10: Carrier Publications - images and commentary about the various handbooks, manuals and parts lists.

All that detail with over 500 images.

To see details and purchase a copy, go to https://www.michaelkcecil.com/page/4...-to-jungle-mud and scroll down to Volume 2, then choose the appropriate country to order.
