Default # 13 Cab CMP id

I have been sent this photo from the daughter of Ossie Broomfield, the photo having been taken in '1942' in 'Italy'...1943?...when he was a Driver. Post-war he started a coal business and chose Bedfords for his business.

Cheers!

David

Well, it's definitely a Ford F15 as is evident from the spring bumper.

The sand tracks would possibly indicate North Africa rather than Italy - possibly Egypt?

LAD5... Light Aid Detachment I wonder?

And how could anyone choose Bedfords over Ford CMPs??!!??

Yes, Keith....note also the absence of rear mud guards, but the presence of front mud guards.

The tarp has some interesting features, and, what is that rod-like device attached from the outside of the wing up to where the rear view mirror would be?

Would that be an FFFF (Found Fairly Frequently on Fords) or, the rare and desirable CCCC (Chiefly Coveted by Chev Converts?)

Jon I thought that might just be the mirror arm minus mirror. Obviously they should've sent off to Argentina for a replacement.

Default 16"

They're both 16" rims, however the rolling diameter of the front tyres looke a lot larger.

On-road tread was used sometimes with the 4X2 CMPs.

Ford F15 with # 13 Cab and 2B1 "Van" body (because of the full canvas canopy).

Note the red-white-red recognition sign above the "LAD5" (I agree this seems to indicate Light Aid Detachment).

After the war there was not much too choose, one simple had to take what was made available - obviously he was at the back of the hand-out line
