Post Austin Gipsy??

Hi all
I see one of these little fella's is for sale nearby, all decked out in old military camo. Did they actually serve in any forces???? Thought they were only civilian but am willing to be corrected.

I know the one you mean... just on the Northern side of Albury.

Not sure of it's provenance, but the paint scheme looks dodgy.

Hi there!

Well as far as I know the only Gypsy's in Aust service were the odd few used in trails.

And seeing it is in camo that has to be bodgy as post WW2 camo was not used generaly on any vehicles untill 1981 when just prior to the K81 exercise the 3rd Brg in Townsville camoed all of its vehicles. Then 5~10 years latter it was adopted Army wide to what we see today.

Did the Australian army even trial the gypsy? I know that they trialed the champ against the land rover and jeep.

Hi all
Yes Keith it is the one at Albury, it appears that the consensus of opinon is that they did not serve. $2200 if anyone is interested, but I think I will keep an eye out for something more interesting.
Nice photo above though, never seen that line up before.

It's a good picture actually. it's from an article on Land Rovers in australian service from the ANZAC steel website
