Default Gmc Cc-303

I would like to see photos of this vehicle or a CC-302 in CW use during WW2. Did any of these get out of US hands and if so, does anyone have any photos they can share or direct me to?

Kent

Isnīt it a GMC CC Series truck? And although it is a restored vehicle, looks all right in military livery.

The RAAF had this type of GMC mainly as fuel tankers during WW2. First 3 photos are from the AWM data base and the forth was taken by me of a surviver at the late Ken Hughes yard in 2000 here in Queensland. Where it is now I do not know.

Cheers
Cliff

Those Ausies, they seem to have everything :-) ...
Here is anothe GMC ex-military service. The question is if they really originally had those chrommed details. But the ex-LRDG Chevy in IWM London shows that that those parts were only repainted.
Greetings to the other side of the Globe,
Jan.

Default Chrome?

Interesting query! Civvy GMC and Chevrolet trucks had chrome grilles until say in the case of US trucks, late 1942 Model ones i.e. so-called black-out models had painted grilles. I am not sure whether military 1941 Models had painted grilles...possibly painted over chrome? The export civvy-spec 1941 Models had chrome from what I have seen from photos, but possibly overpainted when they received overall drab for say Mobiel Canteen service.

Thanks for those replies. I bought the manual that was listed. Still would like to see any other versions of this truck in military livery.

Default CC-302 Contracts

My copy of the GMC Master Parts List shows the following GMC CC-302 Contracts:

W-398-QM-13058 1942 MODEL YEAR 1 1/2-TON 134 1/2" WHEELBASE 1574 CAB- BUDD CARGO BODY # 310490 > 3109497

W-398-QM-13058 1942 MODEL YEAR 1 1/2-TON 134 1/2" WHEELBASE 1574 CAB- HEIL DUMP BODY # 310498 > 3109500

So very few listed!

I have checked the Master Parts List for radiator grilles and no mention is made as to whether they were chromed or painted. I can only suggest that spare parts were unpainted except in primer.

Thank you for your info on the 302's & 303's. Is there any chance that these models were used to fulfill any of the earlier orders such as to France?

Default 1942 Models

The CC series were 1942 Models. All French orders were for A-prefixed 1940 Models.

Default Chevy versions?

Thanks for all of the useful info. What about the MR & MS versions. Did these get into commonwealth use?

Default My listings

Try this thread:

Then check out each online listing. For Chevrolet there are two.
