Each year, the Camp X Historical Society hosts a weekend long event in order to raise awareness of the history of Camp X to the general public. It also provides a means to unite regional military and historical organizations that would not normally work together. Finally, the event also helps emphasize the importance in supporting current day troops who are operating at home and overseas.
In years past, some displays have included: -An ameteur radio demonstration; -Museum tent showcasing artefacts unique to Camp X; -Displays showcasing various militaria from WWII; -2 Field Engineers display of inert IED training devices; -Sunday parade involving the Royal Canadian Legion, local Cadet units, 400 Squadron Pipes and Drums, and multiple government agencies; and -2 Int Coy provide tents, generators, and human resources for the weekend The event takes place June 6-8, 2008. If anyone would like to setup a display of period artefacts or vehicles, please contact me. Thanks, Matthew Rutledge Camp X / Military Display Lead Coordinator President, Camp X Historical Society |
