Robertson McColm, born Ayr Scotland June 1889.
The storey goes that he tried on several occasions to join but each time was found unfit because he had a glass eye. Lost his eye during a hunting accident as a child. Finally fooled the M.O. and was enlisted in 1915 and served in France. He was discharged with the rank of A/CSM medically April 1919. |

Bravo to your Granddad Mike.
No handicap was going to hold him back. My grandfather and uncle both enlisted the same day with the Linc's and Winc's.Thier serial numbers are one digit apart.They were not accepted for overseas duty[age,physical]so they served here in Canada .I believe it was guard duty on the Welland Canal Wayne. |
