Default Me next...

I acutally discovered that this was a relative of mine recently. My second cousin (twice removed), Harold Burnard, was killed July 8/44 at bloody Buron.

Hi Erik,

Your Harold was born the same year as my Uncle Eddie and died exactly one month after he did in Normandy. So young, at 21, the both of them

It's good to see that you have a website of the his-stories, and it looks really good. I see it's a project of love for you. Good stuff!

Karmen.

Erik:

The HLIofC vets gather every year at the Armoury in Cambridge, On, in early June.
There's not a lot of the old guard left, but I can arrange for you to visit. I'm sure that some of them will remember him.
We consider these chaps to be the "Fathers" of the regiment, and have them out for medals parades, promotions and the like. In their honour we have named our second Rifle Company As "Buron"Coy.
A few even attend the "Men's Christmas Dinner" and eat with the troops as the Officers and NCO's serve the men.

My great grandfather was also in the Canadian Forestry Corps and was at the battle of the Ardennes [Bulge]. I have a picture of him in his uniform some where, I have to track it down and will hopefully post it here some time soon.
