yes the were popular on the lakes to get the frozen fish out. during the war fishing was a big business to supply food for the population. i knew an old timer that had pistures of righthand drive cmp that were brand new and put on the fish haul. he was a young man at the time and did his part on the fish haul until he was of age to go overseas. the pictures he had showed the cmp with this little plows in front of the front wheels and they whipped the snow away so tires could get traction. i have seen other wheel plows in the bush as scrap that were for smaller vehicles. the old timer sayed they worked very well and sure beat plowing lots of snow when you didn't have too.
also the new vehicles were used then later sent over seas for the war effort. like the old timer said it was the first and only brand new vehicle he ever got to drive. i wonder if any of those new military vehicles were ever lost those the ice. in the cold water of the great white north, they would come up like brand new, LOL thansk |
