What exactly do you know of this man already?

There are no listings on CWGC for that name, only Moroney and none of them Canadian.

Which branch of the services was he in?

Thank you for your interest Paul. It seems I got my dates mixed up, he would have been in London in March 1945. His name could have been Moron, and he was a married man. He was either Army or Air and French-Canadian.

Without a little more detail it is not going to be easy, if at all, to find much of this man.

I have had a look around and have found very little that would definitely connect to an officer by that name.

There are a number of personnel by the name of Moran listed on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial, and one by the name of Edward. But.... he was a private in the Perth Regiment and died in May 1944 in the Cassino area.

In the spring of 1944 there would have been literally thousands of men in the south of England, many of them heading for the "bright lights" of London if they got chance.

A possibility is using the area of the birth in question to try and track down any Canadian units that might have been in the same area, but it is only an off-chance.

Paul.

Brian,

Please be advised that to our knowledge, there is no master list of all those hundreds of thousands of Canadians who served overseas in whatever capacity. If you had a regiment it would be a start, but even then, our Privacy Act forbids the dissemination of private information to non-family members - even if he were still alive, he would have to grant written permission to get a copy of his OWN service record!

I fear, Brian, that in the absence of further information on this chap, you have little chance of finding him. May we ask, though, what this is related to?

Default Officer

To eliminate one area, I have a Gradation List for Canadian Army Officers up to Dec. 1942 and he is not shown in it.
