Default Canadian Ferret bracket question

I think I know a bit about Ferrets but this is stumping me.

This bracket on the front of this Canadian Ferret is one I have never seen before.

Its placing would suggest it might have an opposing mate.

Disregard the paint as being any clue.

I have no idea what this may have been for.

What say you?

Hard to tell if those blocks for the fire extinguisher were moved to the proper locations for tha Ansul extinguisher bracket. If so, perhaps that is a clip to hold the extinguisher nozzle? I don't believe that is an official bracket for that purpose however. It may have been to retain the tow cable as well. You always saw those draped on the Canadian ferrets.

Your third photo is very interesting. Who needs Microsoft "paint" when there is a pointed finger and a shadow available.

Rob,

I am glad you like the shadow idea, I thought it was simple.

I will dig out an Ansul bracket one of these warmer days and mock up the extinguisher and the hose with the trigger. I think you are on to something

Usually you will see the marks from where the old blocks were for the Brit extinguisher. Even more often you will still have the old blocks there along with the new blocks.

The hose on the Ansul theoretically clipped onto the base of the extinguisher, but that was dicey at best.

I suspect the location of that extra bracket would preclude the pick axe head ("helve" or "mattock" is it in Brit-speak ??)
