Just wondering if our M101 CDN2 Trailers ever carried a CFR number as well how do you date a trailer? There is no date of manufacture on the data plate.

The trailers were all made in 92 if I recall correctly. I'll jot down your serial number from the pic and I should be able to find the CFR. The CFRs were only on the rear license plate. Occasionally units would also stencil them on the front panel of the trailer. It saved trudging into the snow between the trailer and the chain link fence to find the one you were after. The stencilling was not usually done very neatly. May also be in grease pencil. In fact, all the ones I bought had the CFRs grease pencilled under the license plate.

Here's my, new to me, M101CDN2, Serial Number 0917, CFR 36221:
![]() ![]() The fenders have some dents, but Michel included a pair of NOS fenders. I also have a camo tarp and NOS harness Alu housing LED Taillights on the way from Quebec. I am going to wire brush the rust off, then hit the inside, bottom, and underside of the fenders with some kind of bed liner stuff. Then a nice camo paint job according to the manual. I couldn't take a pic of the Data Plate without flash reflection. But, whomever Iltis 39 was, I got your trailer!

By the time the Iltis trailer was produced, new instructions were out that 'B' vehicles were no longer cammed, just painted the flat green. While some were done at lower levels in units, it was no longer official. The vast majority of the M101Cdn2 trailers were not cammed up. Later repaints of LSVWs, MLVWs and HLVWs would also be in the flat green, although in many cases the cam paint jobs were maintained.
39er vehicle would belong to the OC (rank of major) of the third company or battery in a unit. Brad I am still having no luck getting through on you CFR. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. |

Rob,
Would it be possible for you to check out the CFR on my lil' green wagon? MarkCos, I bought the trailer from Michel Guay. She had the alu light housings with LED elements which she sold to me extra. A member on the Yahoo Bombardier Iltis Group posted a link to the M-38/M-151/Humvee Composite Tail Light LED replacement sometime since Dec, but I was not able to find it. The same tail light is used by the Humvee, the newest .mil replacement is the LED, so they should be readily available. I recall the source had both plastic and alu composite light housings.
