Hi All,
I have taken pictures of my CMP and will now attempt to post them so forgive any mistakes as this may take more than one try! The first 5 pictures are of the truck. Derk. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Hanno Spoelstra; 22-11-09 at 17:31. Reason: postings merged & cleaned up |

missing the LH fuel Tank and tow hook but apart from that looks fairly complete and a good project especially since it is a Ford.

Yes I still need a left hand gas tank and hangers but there was a wreck up in northern Manitoba that still had one on it.No time this year to see if it is still there but if I don't find one by spring, then I will go up and get it.The only other part I need is the crank guide bracket that bolts to the top of the bumper.Everything else I have in my boxes of parts and help from the local Prairie Command members like Rob!Thanks again for everyone's help. Derk.

Here are other photo's,the small splash shield behind the rad overflow tank is nice to have.None of my other CMP's had this piece on them. The plug on the steering box had a piece of chip bag shoved in the hole so I scrounged a proper threaded plug and went to put it in and there were no threads in the hole. Were some of these holes not threaded and just had plugs in them or was this a missed step in the finishing process?I shoved a plastic plug in there for now until I find another steering box or a way of threading the hole again. The 2 rubber mounted L-brackets behind the radiator are also new to me as they were missing on my other trucks

I am not sure of these items that are part of the truck. The bracket welded above the drivers side windshield frame on the roof panel, the 2 loop brackets that are bolted beside the hangers for the windscreen bag(which I am looking for the stowage bag!)and There is a shadow behind the passengers headspace on the back roof panel, was there a crash pad originally glued there. The manual shows a crash pad above the crews head on the top.Did they have them also behind their heads?

Looks like a nice starting point, and quite rust-free, too!
Good luck with your project & keep us posted.

You finally got your 134" chassis for the ambulance body. Fellow MLU'ers, keep your eye on this restoration. Dirk is a big time Prairie Command member and the kit he has for this restoration will blow you away when he is done. I might suggest Beltring quality. Great pics. Cheers Rob
Sorry to put the pressure on you Dirk.

The truck has these markings on it.The bridge class is 9 but when I put my ambulance body on it would the bridge class stay the same or is it heavier and require a higher bridge class number? The windshield glass gave me the year of the truck that had 1-44 and some other info in black ink.The formation sign shadow was still on the passenger side nose but could not recover a number or a division color. There was no marks on the drivers side of the nose.

Hi Derk!
My name is Manfred and I live in Vienna/Austria. I have a Ford F15A in restoration. I saw the pictures of your Ford F60L in the MLU Forum. There is a plate with 5 holes above the windscreen on the driver’s site. Do you know what this plate is for? Best regards Manfred |

Looks like a bracket to hold the arm of a sun visor.

Hi Manfred,
I had asked this question awhile back and the MLU forum members identified it as a sun visor bracket.I have never found one on a CMP here in Canada and so far no other members here in Canada say they have found one either. They seem to be used in Australia as the members there have remains of them on their CMP's.I have brought up the thread again for you to view the answers I received and see the pictures for yourself.Look at "Ford CMP bracket identification".Good luck with the restoration.Any pictures yet? Off topic here but my Grandmother came from Vienna,Austria and immigrated here to Canada in 1912 to meet up with her parents that came the year earlier to settle the land they had in the Province of Saskatchewan and started farming,Met my grandfather, married in 1919 and started a farm of their own,had 9 children including my dad and so here I am!Hope to visit Austria one day and maybe do some family research. Regards,Derk.

Hi Keith,
You have me wondering what year my truck was produced now that you point out so many items leading to an earlier production truck. You are right about the windshield possibly being changed as they are sure to break while in service and are so easy to slide out and slide a new one in from a parts truck so the date on the glass isn't very reliable and with the original data plates gone is next to impossible to find a true date of manufacture for my CMP other than what you have noticed about the truck's early parts to give it a rough date of manufacture.I do not know CMP's that well to know the different parts used during Ford's time periods of assembly. Thanks for the information as I have a blank set of 3 data plates for my truck I got off of Alan Growse and I have to make sure I have all of the proper information before I start to stamp it on the blank plates. So your knowledge of the parts lead you to believe it is a 1942 production CMP or is there something I should be looking at to give me a definite time line of manufacture.I couldn't find a tag on the radiator with a date on it so that is the only other part I can think of that would be dated. I started stripping the truck down this spring and managed to take it completely apart so I could have the frame sanedblasted and start to reassemble it and then I went to the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's annual convention in Topeka,Kansas this year with Rob Love and went crazy buying parts for my 1943 Ford GPW jeep and wound up being sidetracked from the CMP to the jeep so it sits in the yard in a pile of parts until I reassemble the jeep.I hope to have the frame of the CMP sandblasted next summer so I can start putting the truck back together.I have almost all the pieces for a complete restoration except the hand crank guide on the bumper,a left gas tank and brackets,a horn button, side curtain bag, large shifter knob and a small blackout socket. Thanks for your help and please let me know if you have any other information that will help me identify the date of manufacture of my CMP. Regards,Derk.

One of the other things with a date is missing. The spring on the rear where the pintle is mounted has a year stamped on it.
The only other thing will be the engine/chassis number which is usually stamped on top of the chassis rail just behind the splash guard on the righthand side, but I assume you've already had a look for that.

Hi Derk!
1) Some of the parts I’m missing for my F15A are the plates on the driver´s door (publication plate, vehicle code plate and chassis record plate). They are stamped with special tool in aluminium. Do you have a posibility to replicate the plates? 2) There are plates on engine cover as well. In my truck they arn’t in aluminium, there are decals. Do you know anyone who makes the decals new? 3) I saw about 10 CMP-trucks in Austria, all of them had the plate for the sunvisor, but I havn’t seen one with them attached. None of my manuals shows a picture of them. Best regards Manfred |
