Hello Shane,
I look forward to following your progress, as will many others, I should imagine. How complete is your vehicle? You have mentioned several pieces you are needing, but are there others? The one piece of advice I would give is simply, photos, lots of photos! Photos here for us to see, and take heaps for yourself to store. My memory isn't good, so I take photos of everything, and at almost every stage of disassembly or reassembly. They have saved me from a great deal of head scratching when trying to fit something together again. Do you have any maintenence manuals to assist you?

I don't currently have ability to use youtube. I'm using a Samsung tablet device, and it is problematic with youtube. Will fire up the old laptop tomorrow evening and have a look.

Well at the moment fuel tanks are getting done as is the motor, I am leaving a few dings in the panels here and there as that is look i want. I would like the look as it was when used by the Australian army not as it came off the line. Help from you all would be great thanks to all so far. Will post more photos soon.Cheers Shane

Nice work Shane, she'll look quite striking in Portland Stone. Interesting chassis extension, they've used the entire rear section off another chassis.

$2000 to sort that out??? That's about 1,500 in real money (UK) bit steep that my friend. I would shop around. I've had bigger rads rebuilt on CAT 320s for less and they are 6 core! No back yard repairers near you? Send it to bloody India n would still be cheaper!!!! Lol

Fire......... its up to you Bob
Hi Bob. $900 sounds better than $2000. However i know a bloke that is doing some electrical work at your place could you give the radiator to him. Come to think of it make it $600 and there wont be any fires caused by electrical fault bwhahahaha (this could happen if i bribe him with a CHEV blitz truck)and you know as well as i do he couldnt say no. And now your asking yourself how does he know who is working at my place...........scary, so scary that maybe i should make it a fair deal and put in a fuel cap(im missing one) and repair the dash for this young man. Its all in your hands now Bob. Cheers Shane

Radiator
Hi Shane - I had another look at your radiator and saw that it was a tropical core one with the chamfers on each edge. The one I have is out of a Cab 13 Ford so I do not know whether that would be suitable. We need to know whether yours is the typical radiator for a Cab 12.
Bob

The seats have a sprung base - which is far superior to foam which is most commonly used in restorations. These are not easy to find though.

radiators
I think the 13 radiators are slightly different
I have fitted 2 different radiators from 13 cabs to my 12, but the lower hoses don't line up with the water pumps. They can be made to fit, but not without a lot of swearing. The shroud is also different allowing for a cross bar to be inserted through the upper part of the shroud. H.

Hi all, im still not sure what to do about the radiator I would also like to know what colour the gear box and motor would have been when the truck was made, mine seems to be blue and red on top of the gear box(I thought red was caution)photos are above. I am going to leave the "bars" that run from the top of the cab onto the guards, reason being i found a photo with Aussie troops standing near the tuck which had this done to it. Will be picking up some more parts on thursday from the crash shop and will put up photos, also if anyone has the webbing that goes between the panels i would like to buy a roll if i could and the adhesive to put it on with. Could anyone with a cab 12 please put up a photo of the engine cover mine seems to be made of 3 parts . Im also missing side mirrors drivers side and the free ride side if someone has any parts for sale.
Tony Baker your paint job on your truck leaves mine for dead, wow mate you have done so much to your truck it makes me feel that i have years to go on this project Who did your seats mate they look great.

Colours
On any original ones I have seen they are painted the same colour as the vehicle, often over a black undercoat, although I have some original new old stock parts which don't have even the black under them.

Engine Covers
Shane,
In answer to your engine covers they do indeed come as three seperate pieces. Two side covers and one that goes over the engine oil filler and gear stick. I have gone right through my photo's cant find a single one of the engine covers. Found one without them of course...

Thanks Keith.
I was told the cab 12 was painted portland stone when it was sent to the middle east or while she was posted there, but was she painted army green on the production line. So does that mean the motor was army green even after it was sent to the middle east?

Is there reason to believe this Cab 12 is ex-Middle East? I had assumed it was a normal 41/42 delivery ex-Canada.
