We already have a pretty full complement of Aussies and Kiwis and will soon be starting a waiting list but I would hold a few places for Canadians and/or Americans to come along just for the cultural mix. 6 weeks, departing Istanbul 01 May 14 and ending on the WW1 battlefields in Belgium 12 Jun 14. Really interesting route this time via Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, UK (Jersey Island), France, Belgium. About 6,000km so very easy driving. Camping at mostly first class facility camp grounds. You can see the DVD of the last trip - just Google "Driving to D-Day" and you will find a distributor to supply one. I think some of it is on You Tube. You can also go on our web site to read the blogs, photos etc www.next-horizon.org Take the opportunity to bring your vehicle over (direct shipping from North America to Istanbul is available) or buy something in Europe to take home. ps We will be visiting Vimy and the USA National WW1 memorial.

Guys, my truck wouldnt be ready by 2014. Possibly ready for centenary of ANZAC in 2015, but nowhere near done in 2014. Even if it could be done, the cost would put it beyond my reach. Then there's the time I would need to be away from work.
Shame though.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, chassis still not home, BUT will be blasted during this week and I will be going there on Saturday to reassemble the bits that will need to be in place prior to the making of the new crossmember for rear. That will be manufactured next week.
Passenger step 1.jpg So, once again, I go on with other parts for now, including finally finishing the passenger side step assembly. This step tread not quite as good as driver side, and i'm not greatly impressed with the finished product, but there you have it! New fuel filter.jpg This is the new fuel filter finished. Remember it will be hidden on inside of the chassis, with an original but non-functioning filter in place on the driver step assembly behind the battery. At least if anyone does see the new one, it will be in the right color. Booster actuator clip.jpg I stumbled across another old booster I had forgotten I had, and found the exact part I was needing for securing the actuator piece. Yaaaay! Steering box painted 1.jpg Also got the sector shaft seal out of the steering box and then got the thing painted. It's now awaiting new seal, bearing and shims/gaskets from MacsAuto. Those should arrive around mid week. Box will be reassembled this weekend, all going well. Drag link painted 1.jpg Drag link is now finished also, requiring replacement of only one of the ball cups (and new grease nipples of course).

Tyre Pump 1.jpg
Started tidying up the gearbox mounted tyre pump. This was given to me by a good friend who didn't want it. Tyre Pump 2.jpg I am looking for the bushing that goes on the piston connecting rod, and also the cover that goes over this assembly. If you have either of these to sell, please send me a message and i'll be happy to buy it/them from you. Cheers!

My steering box parts from Macs arrived today.
While the part numbers are identical, the sector shaft seal & worm gear are NOT CORRECT PARTS FOR CMP. I have added this information to my original post where I first mentioned the part numbers and supplier. I can't believe this scenario. Basically I have been waiting for over 2 weeks for stuff I cannot use. I'm really very pissed off about this. Starting to understand why a lot of people simply do not go to this extent with restoration. Can't be bothered with playing hide & seek anymore, so sod the damn things. I'll make a call tomorrow to Ross Prince, and hopefully save myself a lot of stuffing around! I can feel a little 'blitz free' time coming up soon. Maybe my motivation will return after a bit of a break from the weekly dose of dissapointments.
