Looking through the CES list for the Sherman Firefly, it lists a requirement for 2 of these - to be supplied by the WD contractor (not USA)...
This is listed immediately after the Main Sighting Telescope, so am assuming is a part for that. My guess is this is likely to be the rubber eye piece, but I could be wrong. Anyone know please? Thanks Tim |

Object glass is the end nearest the object you are looking at so not the eyepiece. Is it not the extreme end of the telescope with the two rectangular blocks that you push in to release it?

Yep - that's it at the far end of the scope.

I wonder if these are the sunshades for the telescope?

Looks like the protector might be nothing more than a disc of optically pure, and possibly tinted glass, intended to seal the end of the telescope tube to prevent dust getting in and onto the object lenses further down the barrel of the scope. Having to clean the internal lenses of a scope would be very bad form.

Thanks for the info. Nice diagram Lauren. So, presumably replacement parts in-case the Object End of the scope gets damaged. Will have a look at my scope in a bit to work out what this part is like so I can keep a look out for it at shows. Cheers Tim |
