Default mirror glass replacement

I sourced these replacement mirrors in the UK, they are Lucas type 160 mirrors and while they sell the chromed mirror assemblies reasonably I enquired as to replacement glass and indeed they had them. bought 6 to replace a couple of assemblies I had with broken mirrors and a couple of others are wearing out and loosing there reflective material with age.
I waited until i got them and installed them, they fit, they are nice and i recomend them. My correspondence and their contact information.

Hi Harry,

We can get just the glass for the mirror, the price is £13 per glass.

Please let me know if you would like me to order them?

Kind Regards,

That is terrific information Harry. There are a lot of salvageable CMP mirrors out there but for the glass. There was a 'plexi-mirror' material I looked at some years ago and would have made OK static mirrors but nothing useable.

The second possibility would be to cast resin mirror bodies and install these glass pieces.

The CMP mirror problem may be solved!!!

If you have intact mirror glass that has lost its reflective coating, there must still be mirror companies around that still clean and re-silver mirror glass. They all did it at one time, even automotive mirrors with odd shaped glass.

Thanks for the update Harry.

Bruce, if you search this forum you’ll see the CMP mirror problem was solved already, see e.g. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=20335 or search for Lucas mirror.
