Actually a practical solution to storing Rob's HUP body off the ground.... will be coccoon with tarps for Winter..... and a solution to having the front axle removed for dissembly..... all the while having fun......
We discovered why they are called Heavy utility...man that body is heavy and was all my tractor bucket could handle using an additional 3 foot square tubing extension to the bucket.....

a. Too much time on your hands;
b. A touch of sunstroke; c. A special command post for withdrawal operations; or d. A lot of fun with this hobby! Me thinks "d". That HUP body has more mileage on it now than when it was on its own frame. Now that it is a lot closer to home, I will predict the HUP will be on the road by Fall 2020 (when gas will be worn as perfume and Mr. Fusions will be a reality). Do pigs fly, Bruce?

That HUP body looks very tidy indeed. Not so sure about the whole rig, though.
I need to get moving on my sandblasting - have a station wagon full of parts to go right now. Still banging dents out of the fenders on the anvil, but figure I can live with a bit of cellulite as long as the lines and curves are tolerably correct. Blaster tells me he can do the body on the frame if it is all stripped - maybe I will take the floor plates out after all. Got some junk to cut off it yet, too. Also wrestling the broken right rear spring off - those shackle pins sure came out nice - clean and well greased they were, just took a little hammer and drift work. U-bolt nuts came off slick, too, with the help of a long-term process of soaking with penetrating oil, and a breaker bar.

Hi Mark,
It is good to hear that you are making progress. My front fenders got really chewed up and look horrible even after rolling, pounding and cursing. Keep me in mind if you find a 45 HUP donor truck. Yeah, the body looks good, but the photo hides a lot of faults that I need to sort out including a gap between the old and new roof lines, uneven lines on the side where the roof meets the side wall, and some gaps between panels. I will be filling the gaps by welding and grinding. A little body putty and body fill should "tart" her up enough to cheat the eye. I strongly recommend the removal of all floor plates in the cab. I found a lot of rust and eaten away metal that would have not otherwise been readily found. It is worthwhile to remove the two small plates that rest under the door frame and butt up against the rear wall. Your springs should be an easy fix. I am anxious to hear about your front spring shackles - mine were worn to the extreme. I had them welded up and rebored and resleeved. Time will tell if the job was true enough. I start reassembly once I find new spring mount pins. Keep me in mind if you find a 45 HUP donor truck. I am looking for: front fenders (small) replacement shackle mounts (front long and short versions) replacement spring mount pins choke cable NOS mirrors (at a reasonable price - stop laughing...) HUP rear seats (bench, small fold down and two small corner seats and replacement sliding roof hatch. Please post your list and I will see what I have in the spares pile Cheers
