HI everyone
I picked up this web sling the other day and can't seem to identify it. I first thought it may have been a strecher sling but it doesn't appear to be. Would it be vehicle related? The sling is 1.5" wide and streches out to about 6.5' long. On one end there is a brass wire loop stiched in and the other end is attached to a brass buckle. Where the strap doubles back on itself there is another brass wire loop. The makers stamp is MS&U ltd, 194?

Very interesting. It's definitely not a Sten sling...wrong fittings and way too long. I don't think it's any kind of strap for webbing either. The fittings aren't the kind commonly seen with pattern 37 webbing: that is, the double groove type with one side open which allows attachment to braces or L straps. From your pic it's apparent the loop will go around a rather large load and then be hung from a hook. I'm going with it's some kind of cargo strap for use with a vehicle. Want to sell it? ![]() ![]()

Not wanting to get into the argument of "My Stens bigger then your Sten" it is definatly not a Sten sling. It is about 6 feet long.
Im also thinking its vehicle sling. Sorry Dave but its not for sale becuase it will be going on my carrier as one of two tarp straps.

May be a equipment sling for kit.
You find loops on the sides of boxes etc that are for passing a web belt through which forms a loop so that the kit can be carried on the shoulder. Battery carries are a good example of this and I've seen some radio kit that has similar fixings. Pete |

Definately not a Sten sling... don't forget that the sling in question is 1.5 inches wide and a sten sling is 3/4 inch wide.
