Hi Norm;
Came across these during a search of 'online' photos held by Library & Archives Canada and thought they may be of interest to you. The caption(s) for the photos are those which appear on the LAC site. Caption: Privates H. Drake and J.R. Mark:
Thanks so much for posting the photos of my regiment. I well remember all of the faces but unfortunately a number of them never came home. Your encyclopedic abilities often totally amaze me. Where and how you are able to come up with these great answers, you surely must have an amazing library. It is an excellent asset to the MLU Forum because with every passing day our history of WW2 fades into the past. Again, many thanks Norm. |

Mark....
Here is another photo of Hank McDowell he was killed in action on the Lamone canal. He stepped on a mine. The reason I remember him well, in 1942 I was a dispatch rider for 6 months but was grounded after 3 accidents. Hank was a dispatch rider when he was killed. He was a very quiet and likeable chap as were many of my buddies who never came home. (source of picture) regimental history book DILEAS. Norm |
