Yes Darrin, the chassis was stepped to give the Scout car a lower silhouette. It appears to be correct and they arent too common.

Some surplus Armour still exists at Nungarin WA Museum and may be for sale if someone wants to build a Dingo up...

Cheers

Phill

We got one after the war and used it on our farm before we got the Dodge Weapons Carriers. In those days unfortunately they were not so valued and with steel being in short supply, oxy torches were run down the centre to cut the armour off and sell it. We acquired it after it had been cut down, so dealer/s must have been cutting them down and selling them and their armour at profit. Sounds terrible today, but that was the normal thing to do in those times. It was terribly hard sprung without the armour, but stable around the sides of hills as a result, though it would slide sideways. It would also take off going down hill. There was another on a neighbouring property used to spread superphosphate etc. Petrol was cheap in those days. The Dodge Weapons Carriers were much better machines. The V8 did sound good though. Another neighbor had a cut down Chev ambulance with a tray fitted to the back. Thankfully, now most of what remain are being restored, so perhaps farm use saved them from the scrappers.

Default dingo

Doesn't look too bad and not too far from me. How hard are tyres to get for them?

Used to be impossible to get, so much so that the wheels got stolen from my neighbours' Dingo. Perhaps 20" wheels will fit to get it up and running. Tyres would take a .303 and still run, so heavy ply too.

Default My Dingo is still for sale.

You can get a chassis for free if you buy my Dingo. My Dingo is still for sale and that includes a spare chassis, plenty of wheels and other extras.

See it in this For Sale section.

(I don't know how to post the link. but I'm sure someone will help out.)

Regards Rick.
