Bakelite Toggle Switches
Hi all - I am hunting around for these old switches to place in the Carrier dash plate. Anyone have any or know where to get them?

Switches
A good Electrical Wholesaler should be able to get them for you. Either Ringrip or Federal(PDL) brand. They are the same as the ones that screw into the old bakelite house switches. I'll get you the correct part number from work tomorrow. I think you want the double pole ones. If you can't find them I can get you some. Including the 3 pin outlet that is used for touble lights.

Re. Switches
Hi Grant - thanks for your input but I have done all the research including the Ringrip web site. They do not have these switches listed. There is a guy in Qld that sells heritage switches that include the plate, however these are Clipsal manufacture. I contacted Clipsal as well and although their switches look similar to the Ringrip ones, I don't know whether the locating holes are the same distance apart. Besides which they are @$23 each. I am really after the Ringrip ones.
Still looking - Bob

Ringrip was made by Clipsal in Adelaide. It was the brand for the retail market while Clipsal was the same or similar for the trade or wholesale market. The way you have a foot in each camp without upsetting the trade. Ringgrip was sold at retail and Clipsal at trade. They are just about obsolete and it is what is foating around the stores. I will send an email to all our 64 stores and see what is around. The Clipsal and PDL ones look similar and are a standard size. A French compant bought Clipsal and PDL so they would have discontinued old lines. Run by accountants.

Thanks for that Grant, bugger both companies are the same. Now the other elusive switches are the various Blitz ones and the short ones with the ball on the end as seen in Carriers.

Sorry Bob
I'm sure the Ringgrip ones are no longer made but I have some contacts in Clipsal and I'll see if there is any available. Hopefully not all ground up and reworked. Will the Federal ones do? Schneider bought Clipsal, who owned Ringgrip and Wilco. All makers of that pattern switch. And they bought PDL and Federal / Rowco. How's your French Bob. There's not much left that's Australian. The only competitor was HPM, until Legrand (French) bought them too. Au Revior mon ami |

Do you have a Jaycar store near you? http://www.jaycar.com.au We have one in here in NZ not far from where I live. They have a good range of switches at good prices. I bought five cat.no. ST0579 20 amp 12v. I cut about 5mm of the toggle and filed all the chrome off and shaped them to look a bit like the originals. The ring nuts are too small to look the part but larger ones are not too hard to find. Regards.

Ringgrip Switch
Hi Bob
I have spoken to the State manager in Qld for Clipsal and he is scouring the country for any stock. In the interim I have found someone with a box of NOS ones. I will find out if he wants to part with any and put him in touch with you. As for the toggle switches I use the Arrow Hart ones made in Italy. I'll try and get a catalogue and part numbers for you and the agents in Adelaide. Regards Grant |

Thanks
Hi Grant - thanks for your efforts so far. I have three Carrier dashes on the go at the moment all needing new bakelite switches. Not to mention the full Blitz panels all requiring toggle switches.
