Gracies Call - First Of 2007!

Warning Order

Attention Ottawa Rotters - Wild Bill will be in town the week of 23 Jan 07 (yeah, I know it isn't a weekend etc...).

As this will be the first meeting of 2007, all members of the Rotters are expect to parade and pay their dues (stories* lies, damned lies and statistics relating to CMPs).

This is an open meeting and all interested parties are welcome to join us. Beer, cute female servers, and truck stories! What more could you possibly want?

*Note that our intrepid Gunner will be in town with stories of his African adventures!

Dates and timings to be confirmed after I smoke out Alex.

Mission: The Rotters will meet at Gracies on Olgilvie Road Tuesday 23 January 2007. Rotters are to be seated, watered and in full blather by no later than 1730 hrs local.

Execution: A few may be in order if some Rotters opt out of the meeting...

Agenda - SSDD.

Alex - updates on manuals/new material/future developments and CONTACT BILL for transport arrangements.
Gunner - dip the crowns and a slide presentation.
Duke of Hammond - pictures of treasures obtained.
Clive - dress down to give the other single rats a chance...
Bill - common sense tune up for all.
Yours Truly - introduction of new members and visiting dignitaries.
All - invite interested parties (nudge, nudge, wink, wink to the Iltis Club and others...)

Should we benefit from the presence of our esteemed MLU "niner", we will "almost" buy him a beer for his almost birthday. This would be a wise plan if we want to keep Geoff awake...cancel last. We will buy him a beer...

As is our custom, all interested parties are welcome to join us for this brew and BS session. Driving directions will be posted if requested.

Please confirm dates & times. Prices on Porter Air out of Toronto Island Airport are remarkably cheap for that date; it's just a matter of me sweet-talking the boss into letting me have a day off. How much are cabs from the airport into downtown, or could someone pick me up (it's been eons since I last flew into Ottawa)?

Actually, that's not bad at all, compared to Toronto. Considering the time of day I'd be arriving, it's probably easiest if I just grabbed a cab.

Please provide detailed address and directions to Gracie's so I have it in-hand if I can make this.

Just push past the smokers at the main entrance, follow the stained glass wall and then turn left. Alex and I usually get there in time to reserve the "spot". The keen observer will note that it affords one of the best unobstructed views of the servers in action.

Best bet for Geoff is to get a cab or airport bus to the CHiMO Hotel on St Laurent just a few blocks from Gracious Gracy..... and we can pick him up there.

Well I am the newbie here. I should keep my mouth shut BUT this thread is insane...I LOVE IT. I will do my best to make it to Gracies on the 23rd but likely not at 5:30 oops sorry 17:30, more likely closer to 18:00. I suppose that is not a problem?

Most of us have names ,and some of us have several....and Bob will have his list ready to introduce himself...
The more the merrier....
The parade has been called for 5:30...most of us will be there a little earlier...
Rob has a little trouble with telling time but knows where the big hand and the little hand is supposed to be..
Hopefully Roger Lucy and Clive will make it..
Sir Willy,Our RSM is the meanest son of a birch on the planet ,and being late for his parade will have him off the deep end and when you show up at 6:00 may make you sit on Major Wingnut's....er...I mean Major Calnan's knee for the meeting unless we can get him so pissed before you get there that we can slip you in ,unnoticed...I'll do my best..

I don't think he is Jif...But the RSM is trying to break him of the habit of wearing sandles with combats ,so will go to any lengths to straighten the Major out...even to having a defaulter perch on his knee to remind him of the dress code..

Now there's something you don't see everyday - an airdale chiding an army bloke on dress...I will give the airforce its "props" (pun fully intended) - when we went back to environmental CF dress the airforce had their dress uniforms made out material that generally is the same colour as lint...

A mystery for you Alex: Are airforce dress shoes issued in grey or do you airdales eat chocolate bars when you (eventually) spit polish your pumps?
