The generator for my 1941 Cab 12 F8 has two terminals (see photo). The one on the side is clearly marked Field and I assume that the one on the back face is the Armature connection. But there is no obvious terminal for the ground. Where does the ground connection go?
I have a spare generator and it is exactly the same as the one shown. |

They normally have the ground connection through the body or housing of the generator itself ...to the motor ..then onto the chasiss ..onto the body etc... It's worthwhile installing a heavy braid ground strap from the motor to the cab at somewhere convenient. A lot of poor starting problems can be traced to poor grounds . I think some vehicles have a dedicated ground wire from the gene as well ..depends on how it is set up..look at your wiring diagram. Mike
